Teen gets 3 years in crash that killed Wichita student
Wichita ? A teenager has been sentenced to three years in juvenile detention in the death of a Wichita high school student in a traffic accident.
The 17-year-old was sentenced Tuesday in the Feb. 25 death of 17-year-old Yadira Villa. He pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and six counts of aggravated battery.
The teenager was driving a vehicle that was chasing the car in which Villa was riding. Police say that when that car hit a tree, Villa tried to get out. The driver pulled away, knocking her to the ground and running over her.
The Wichita Eagle reports that police say the chase began as part of an argument between rival gangs.
