• City commissioners are being asked to get their no parking signs out. Commissioners at their meeting this evening will consider three requests to declare no parking zones along certain city streets. One section is along the south side of 11th Street between Kentucky and Tennessee streets. Another section is along the north side of Brett Drive between Berwick Way and Haversham/Stowe drives. Both those requests have been recommended for approval by the city’s Traffic Safety Commission. A third request — for the west side of Sawgrass Drive from 26th Terrace north to the cul-de-sac — is being recommended for denial by the TSC.

• As the Lawrence Public Library begins work on its $18 million expansion, it will have a new board member. City commissioners at their meeting this evening are expected to approve the appointment of Kate Harding Pohl, an architect with Lawrence-based Treanor Architects.
