Pharmacy owners convicted in ’pill mill’

? The owners of a central Kansas pharmacy have been convicted of charges stemming from the operation of an Internet-based “pill mill” scheme.

Hogan’s Pharmacy owners Mark and JoLane Poindexter entered no contest pleas Monday. Afterward, JoLane Poindexter was convicted of three felonies, including commercial bribery. Mark Poindexter was found guilty of six misdemeanors.

The drug store was in Lyons.

The company’s former chief pharmacist, Rick Kloxin, was convicted in May after pleading no contest to 14 misdemeanor counts of violating Kansas pharmacy laws.

The state closed the pharmacy in March 2008 after a Valley Center woman complained that her husband became addicted to painkillers and overdosed after obtaining pills from Hogan’s.

No sentencing date for the owners has been set.
