Low-speed chase leads to arrest

Lawrence police arrested a 24-year-old man for attempting to elude officers early Tuesday morning, police said.

Sgt. Ted Bordman said an officer recognized the Cadillac driving on Sixth Street and knew the driver had municipal warrants for his arrest.

When the officer tried to pull the car over at 1:36 a.m., the driver went through a red light at Sixth Street and Rockledge Road, Bordman said. The officer pursued the car to the 400 block of Missouri Street, where the driver pulled into his home driveway. He was then placed under arrest. The pursuit never reached high speeds, Bordman said.

The suspect was booked into Douglas County Jail on city charges of attempt to elude and driving with a suspended, revoked or canceled driver’s license, but released on $200 bond. He’s scheduled to appear in Lawrence Municipal Court April 22.
