The Allen Press facility of 325 employees in Lawrence raised more than $12,500 for five local charities in 2008.

Through paycheck deductions and other fundraising activities, employees made donations to Habitat for Humanity, the Boys and Girls Club, Meals on Wheels and the United Way. Annual holiday charitable activities included toy collections for Toys for Tots, a food drive for Ballard Community Services, and sponsorship of families through the Salvation Army Angel Trees, with clothing, toys and gift cards for Christmas meals.

In addition to employee contributions, the company made a $5,000 holiday donation to the American Red Cross on behalf of its customers and more than $12,000 to other charitable causes throughout the year. The company annually chooses charitable organizations to support through various fundraising activities.
