The Kansas football team (now 7-1) suffered its first loss, to Oklahoma, 27-23, in a battle royal staged here before 50,658 spectators. While the defeat was somewhat deflationary for coach Pepper Rodgers’ high-flying Jayhawks, they vowed to beat Kansas State and Missouri in their two final games and wind up in the coming Orange Bowl classic.
