Breast cancer plates available for vehicles
Breast cancer awareness license plates are available to the public at the Douglas County Treasurer’s Office.
The plates are the result of a partnership with the treasurer’s office and Kansas University Cancer Center. They can be obtained by Kansas residents who make a $50 annual tax deductible gift to the cancer center. Instructions, application forms, and payment options are available at www.kuendowment.org/licenseplate/Default.aspx, or by calling (888) 588-5249.
After payment of the $50 and receipt of certification from KU, the license plates may be obtained from any of the three county treasurer’s offices in Lawrence. The plate will be issued upon renewal of vehicle registration, including payment of regular fees and taxes. To get the plate, you will need to bring the cancer center certificate of annual donation, proof of insurance for the vehicle, current license plate and registration receipt.
