‘Faith club’ visiting Lawrence

Authors of the best-selling book “The Faith Club” will speak in Lawrence this spring.
Ranya Idliby, Suzanne Oliver and Priscilla Warner will speak at 7 p.m. April 9 in Woodruff Auditorium in the Kansas Union, with a book-signing session afterward. The next day, they will have a community workshop starting at 9 a.m. at Signs of Life, 722 Mass.
The book chronicles the experiences of the three authors – a Christian, a Jew and a Muslim – as they tried to understand each others’ religion following 9/11.
The events are being organized by a new Lawrence faith organization, “An InterFaith Dialogue: Moving toward Mutual Appreciation.”
“We are bringing ‘The Faith Club’ authors here to launch a communitywide, ongoing interfaith effort,” says Dru Sampson, an event organizer. “We hope people of different faiths will meet, using ‘The Faith Club’ model to learn about others’ spiritual beliefs. We believe that the way to peace in our world is through increased knowledge, better understanding and an appreciation of all faiths.”
