Fewer volunteers drops KU ranking
Kansas University likes to tout the number of students it sends to the Peace Corps as volunteers each year.
In the past few years, that number had consistently increased. But after hitting 17th in 2006, KU’s ranking fell to 25th in 2007.
According to statistics from the Peace Corps, 43 KU alumni are active in the Peace Corps, good for a three-way tie at 25th. There were 49 alumni in the Peace Corps in 2006, when KU was 17th.
That number this year would have been good for 18th place. KU has sent more than 840 alumni to the Peace Corps since its inception in 1961.
