KU track wins 4 titles at Arkansas

? Junior Zlata Tarasova, sophomore Kelsey Erb, senior Jordan Scott and freshman Amanda Miller each won their respective events for the Kansas University track and field teams Friday at the Arkansas Invitational.

Tarasova won the women’s weight throw with a toss of 18.42 meters (60-51â4 feet), and Erb won the women’s high-jump title with her leap of 1.68 meters (5-6 feet). Scott won his second straight pole vault with his effort of 5.3 meters (17-41â2 feet).

Miller won the 3,000-meter run with her time of 10:30.49.

Junior transfer Nickesha Anderson had an impressive debut in the 200-meter dash for the Jayhawks with a second-place finish. The Hanover, Jamaica native, finished in a school-record time of 23.77.

Senior Crystal Manning placed second in the triple jump with her effort of 12.70 meters (42-61â4 feet), while senior Kate Sultanova and sophomore Lauren Bonds also had third-place showings for the women. Sultanova had a pole vault of 4.12 meters (13-61â4 feet), and Bonds ran the Mile in 4:49.16.

On the men’s side, senior Julius Jiles finished third in the 60-meter hurdles (8.00), and sophomore Kirk Cooper was third in the pole vault (5.05 meters/16-63â4 feet).
