Spears’ attorney wants documents sealed

Los Angeles – Britney Spears’ attorney wants to seal all court papers in her custody battle with ex-husband Kevin Federline over their two small sons.

Attorney Laura A. Wasser filed a motion Friday asking a Superior Court commissioner to make permanent a conditional order to seal all documents dealing with custody. It was filed in response to a motion by People magazine and TV station seeking to unseal some of the papers.

“This is the perfect instance to stop the madness,” Wasser said in court. Federline’s attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, agreed with Wasser’s motion.

Commissioner Scott Gordon heard arguments Friday, but put off ruling on the issue until a hearing set for Monday on Federline’s request to gain a bigger share of custody.

The singer married Federline in October 2004. She filed for divorce in November and the divorce became official July 30. The two have joint custody of sons Sean Preston, who turned 2 Friday, and Jayden James, who turned 1 Wednesday.

Ferrell to auction cameo to aid cancer foundation

San Marcos, Calif. – Will Ferrell is auctioning a cameo spot in his new movie to raise money for a fraternity brother’s cancer foundation.

Ferrell came up with the idea to help Craig Pollard’s Cancer for College foundation. The two were fraternity brothers at the University of Southern California.

Online bidding will begin Monday and close Sept. 26. Ferrell will announce the winner Sept. 27, and that person will meet the actor the next day at the 14th annual Cancer for College golf tournament dinner at Temecula Creek Inn.

The opening bid for the movie appearance is $5,000.

In October, the winner will join Ferrell on set of his new movie, “Step Brothers,” and appear in a scene.

Pollard, a two-time survivor of Hodgkin’s disease, started Cancer for College to provide college scholarships to current and former cancer patients. The charity has awarded $200,000 to 50 cancer survivors since 1993.

Fonda to auction off items from ‘Easy Rider’

Dallas – Actor Peter Fonda is auctioning off some of his memorabilia from “Easy Rider,” including the American flag taken from the back of the jacket he wore throughout the film.

Fonda, who was producer, co-writer and co-star of the groundbreaking 1969 movie, “just decided it was time to share some of his treasures with collectors and fans,” said Doug Norwine, director of music and entertainment memorabilia at Heritage Auction Galleries in Dallas.

The flag has an estimated value of $50,000. Other items up for auction Oct. 6 will include a Department of Defense pin that adorned the jacket, Fonda’s gold record for the film’s soundtrack album and his collection of six movie posters, including those for “Easy Rider” and “Ulee’s Gold.”

In one scene from 1969’s “Easy Rider,” Fonda’s character throws his wristwatch away. But it wasn’t the Rolex that Fonda wore in the movie’s earliest scenes, which is part of the auction.
