County commission to consider entering bioscience agreement

Douglas County commissioners today will consider entering into an agreement to provide funding to help convert an East Hills Business Park building for use by bioscience companies.

If approved, the county will join with the city of Lawrence, Douglas County Development Inc. and the Lawrence-Douglas County Bioscience Authority in providing $3 million over 10 years for the project to the Kansas Bioscience Authority.

Commissioners will meet at 10 a.m. in the courthouse, 1100 Mass.

Other items on the county’s regular agenda include:

¢ Consider approval of a final plat for 2.47 acres of land belonging to Unitarian Fellowship of Lawrence at 1263 N. 1100 Road.

¢ Consider approval of the Register of Deeds technology fund report and transfer of money.

¢ Consider approval of amendments to the city-county comprehensive plan, Horizon 2020, concerning chapters on industrial and development land use and the neighborhood planning concept.

Consent agenda items include:

¢ Consider approval of cereal malt beverage licenses for Cecil Monday’s Bar & Grill, 2229 N. 1400 Road, Eudora; and Midland Farm Store, 1401 N. 1941 Diagonal Road, Lawrence.

¢ Consider a resolution that establishes a 30 mph speed limit for East 1300 Road from North 100 to North 150 roads.

¢ Consider a resolution that establishes a 30 mph speed limit on portions of North 650 Road and East 1400 Road in Willow Springs and Palmyra townships.

¢ Consider approval of technical amendments to the county’s road access management standards.

¢ Consider reappointing Erik Mitchell as county coroner.

¢ Consider approval to medical contracts for the jail.

¢ Consider recommendations for county banking service contracts.

¢ Consider joint resolutions ordinance amendments to Horizon 2020.
