From the Lawrence Daily World for Feb. 12, 1907: “The State Senate voted yesterday on appropriations measures for schools in the state and the major amounts were $367,414 for Kansas University, $296,000 for the agricultural college and $85,000 for Emporia Normal. There was no controversy over any of these except the university bill. It makes a large increase over former years and there was some hot debate, with some wanting to cut out the $50,000 for the engineering building.”
