Hootie and Blowfish to play at speedway

The blues and rock band Hootie and the Blowfish will headline the sixth annual Treads and Threads gala on Sept. 7 at Kansas Speedway in western Wyandotte County.

The event is a benefit for Kansas University Hospital’s cancer program. Proceeds will be used to create new patient, family and visitor areas in the inpatient care unit and for construction of a second palliative care suite at the hospital.

Also performing will be the Bill Pollack Group, a dance band. A fireworks show also is planned.

In addition to the entertainment, people attending will be treated to appetizers, signature dishes and desserts from 23 Kansas City area restaurants and caterers. Admission starts at 7:30 p.m.

Sponsorship levels range from $5,000 to $45,000. Patron event passes are available for $300. Sponsors and patrons can attend a pre-party at 6 p.m., which will include rides around the speedway.

Individual event passes for the main event can be purchased for $200. To reserve passes, call (913) 588-8888 or visit treadsandthreads.org.
