Old home town – 40 years ago today

Kansas University Chancellor Clarke Wescoe opened the school’s 101st academic year by officially launching the $19.6 million Program for Progress designed to raise private funds for priority needs not met by state funding. The effort was timed with the start of KU’s second century. The first-day fall enrollment figure at KU was 14,538, but the final total was due to top 14,750.
