Welcome reviews

To the editor:

What a surprise to open the Journal-World Saturday and read the excellent review of the Kansas University opera production. Chuck Berg’s description of the event was so compelling I wanted to run out and get tickets right away. KU is notorious for low budget, shoestring opera productions, and it takes confirmation of the talent on-stage to move me sometimes. What I read gave me the extra push I needed.

I was even more thrilled, on Sunday, to read Berg’s juicy article about the university ballet production at the Lied Center.

I wonder if the Journal-World had a glossier, sexier approach to the arts section, if Lawrence could once again be considered a city of the arts?
