Temperatures to climb into upper 50s

Hoping for some sunny weather? It’s on the way, says Jennifer Schack, 6News meteorologist.

“Sunshine will take the temperature into the upper 50s today,” Schack said.

At 2:25 p.m., Lawrence’s temperature was 53 degrees, the humidity was 59 percent and winds were from the northwest at 6 mph, making the windchill 51 degrees.

Today’s low temperature was 35 degrees. The average low temperature for this date is 40 degrees. The record low was 18 degrees, set in 1890.

Today’s high will climb to 58 degrees. The average high temperature for this date is 62 degrees. The record high was 84 degrees, set in 1986.

This afternoon’s winds will be out of the northwest at 5 to 10 mph, Schack said.

Overnight, the temperature will fall to 40 degrees by early Wednesday morning, she said. Wednesday’s high will climb to 68 degrees, with cloudy skies, she said.

Isolated storms are possible late Wednesday night into Thursday morning, Schack said.

Thursday’s morning low will be 55 degrees, with the high climbing to 71 by Thursday afternoon, she said.

“We could see strong thunderstorms on Thursday,” she said.

Scattered thunderstorms are in the forecast for Thursday, Schack said.
