Kemp gets Big 12 nod

Kansas University women’s basketball forward Crystal Kemp was tapped All-Big 12 Conference first-team by the league office Friday, becoming the first KU player to be first-team since Lynn Pride in 2000.

“It’s a great honor,” Kemp said. “It’s something that I’ll be able to look back on and be proud of.”

Heading into the Big 12 tournament, Kemp is averaging 19.0 points and 8.3 rebounds per game this season for KU (16-11). She’s fourth in the league in scoring and eighth in rebounding.

Kemp, a senior from Topeka, was one of 10 players named first-team All-Big 12.

KU guard Erica Hallman was named an honorable-mention All-Big 12 selection. A senior, Hallman averages 14.4 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists.

KU will face familiar foe Kansas State at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Reunion Arena in Dallas.
