A 19-year-old man went to the hospital Wednesday after he said he was struck by a bus belonging to the Lawrence Bus Co.

The bus allegedly left the scene of the accident, which according to a police report occurred shortly after noon at Ninth and Missouri streets. Douglas W. Mayer told police he was working along the street near the intersection.

Police interviewed the driver and other people in the area at the time of the accident, but they could not find anyone who saw Mayer struck by the bus, a police spokeswoman said. The driver, Timothy M. Snyders, 31, told police he didn’t know the bus had struck anybody.

No citations were issued.
