Warming up today into the 80s

Hot weather expected through weekend

Lawrence’s temperatures were in the 50s this morning. But a warm-up is coming this afternoon, says Jennifer Schack, 6News meteorologist.

“It’s a beautiful spring morning. There will be no problem as sunshine continues through the day,” Schack said.

At 7:15 a.m., Lawrence Municipal Airport’s temperature was 53 degrees, the humidity was 89 percent and winds were calm. The average low temperature for this date is 64 degrees. The record low was 49 degrees, set in 1985.

Today’s high will reach 85 degrees, which is the average high temperature for this date. The record high was 102 degrees, set in 1953.

“It looks like a warm Tuesday. But there will be a lot of hot days by the end of the week,” Schack said.

Wednesday’s morning low will be 61 degrees, then the temperature will climb to 90 degrees Wednesday afternoon under partly cloudy skies, she said.

Thursday’s morning low will be 68 degrees, climbing to an afternoon high of 94 degrees, with sunny skies, she said.
