Vehicle checks
To the editor:
“Police checkpoint near Wakarusa causing a stir,” read the headline on Thursday’s online Lawrence Crime Blotter.
I bet.
As I read it, everybody exiting at the interchange nearest the festival is being checked EXCEPT those using the K-Tag lane. Well, as I understand checkpoints, you need to check everybody or at random, i.e. every second or third car. It appears to me this isn’t “random” because no K-Tag vehicles are being checked.
Also, there aren’t checks at the other Lawrence exits which may or may not affect the randomness of the check.
