Cast vote on future of NFL Network

Are Sunday games and Monday Night Football enough to satisfy the hunger of area NFL football fans?

Sunflower Broadband, owned by The World Company, announced Tuesday it essentially is letting its customers answer that question with an online poll about an NFL Network initiative.

Rights changes to NFL games resulted in NFL Network having the rights to NFL games played Thursdays through Saturdays, beginning with the 2006 season.

The games will be blacked out to all Sunflower Broadband customers, even those who currently receive NFL Network, unless Sunflower Broadband places the NFL Network on the Expanded Basic or Bronze TV levels of service.

Because of the cost associated with this channel, adding it to the Expanded Basic or Bronze TV line-up will result in an increase of $1 to $1.50 per month year-round for all subscribers. This cost would be in addition to any potential annual rate adjustments.

Sunflower Broadband is asking customers to vote “yes” or “no” of whether to pay the costs to carry these games. Customers can cast votes by visiting www.sunflowerbroadband.com and clicking on the football banner. May 15 is the deadline for the survey.

NFL policy, as stated on nfl.com, is that “NFL Network games will also be carried on free, over-the-air television in the city of the visiting team and in the city where the game is played if it is sold out 72 hours in advance of kickoff.”

Each NFL Network telecast will feature a live, three-hour pregame show from the city of the home team and a one-hour postgame show with interviews, highlights and news conferences.
