Felton services, Lawrence

Graveside services for Eugenia Zhenya Marie Felton, 97, Lawrence, will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Felton died Saturday, March 26, 2005, at her home.

She was born Nov. 3, 1907, in Omsk, Siberia, the daughter of Karl and Maria Viertel. She immigrated to the United States from England in 1959 and became a citizen in 1964.

Mrs. Felton was employed at the Kansas University Slavic languages and literature department, where she was a Russian language translator for more than 35 years. She won second place in the Estonian championship for mixed doubles in tennis in 1934.

She was married for 52 years to Egon Felton. He died Sept. 24, 1978.

A son, Bobby Felton, also died earlier.

Survivors include a son, Eric Felton, Lawrence; a daughter, Tamara Kallas, England; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to the Lawrence Humane Society or Midland Hospice, sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
