FCE and 4-H News

Kanwaka Family and Community Education unit will meet at noon Tuesday at Bismarck Guest House. Alice Wren and Beverly Bourque will give the lesson “Color Me Healthy.” Margaret Wulfkuhle will give a program “Old Tyme Games and Activities.” Hostess will be Myrna Hartford. Each member is asked to bring a healthy dish for the luncheon and the recipe for the dish.

Isabel Adams, of Jefferson County, is the 2005 4-H Alumni Award recipient. The award, which honors volunteer service to youth development and community, was presented at the Emerald Circle banquet June 2 in Manhattan.

Adams is a former 4-H member, 4-H parent and grandparent. She is the community club leader for the Clover Power 4-H Club in Meriden. Adams, a long-time supporter of the county fair, has served on the Jefferson County Fair Board, and, in 2004, became the first person from Jefferson County to be inducted into the Kansas Fairs Association Hall of Fame.

The following area 4-H’ers earned recognition during the Emerald Circle banquet June 2 in Manhattan.

Those recognized as state project winners were: Ashley Guenther, Franklin County; Jenna Petesch, Jefferson County; Aimee Ostermeyer and Arthur Rollins, Leavenworth County; and Brenna Koch, Megan Patton, Nicole Perkuhn and Leah Swank, Shawnee County.

Those who were honored as scholarship winners were: Erin Ashcraft, Michelle Colgan, Katy Taul and Morgan Trowbridge, Douglas County; Matthew Roberts, Franklin County; Matthew Felzke, Gregory May and Kelly McGuire, Johnson County; Grace Tucker, Osage County; and Matt Ebert, Shawnee County.
