Services for Loeta Elaine Tingle, 72, Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Tingle died Sunday, Jan. 2, 2005, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

She was born March 9, 1932, in Reger, Mo., the daughter of Lester McMullen and Retha Parsons.

Mrs. Tingle worked in school cafeterias in Omaha, Neb., and Leavenworth. She had lived in Lawrence and returned in 1985. She was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and Eagles Lodge No. 309 Auxiliary.

She married Nelson Edward Tingle on Jan. 30, 1948, in Lawrence. He died Jan. 24, 1992.

Survivors include her significant other, Billy W. Carter Sr., Lawrence; three daughters, Evelyn K. Hardy, Carol E. Berg-Meiners and Patricia A. Campbell, all of Lawrence; three stepdaughters, Billie Jo Ryant, Lawrence, Kathrine Cale, Yankton, S.D., and Kim Vanadore, Torrington, Conn.; two half-brothers, Marion A. Neal, Guthrie, Okla., and James Parsons, Rogers, Ark.; 16 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, where the family will receive them from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday.

The family suggests memorials to Eagles Lodge No. 309 Women’s Auxiliary, sent in care of the funeral home.
