Stephen Hudson and Julie Johnson

The bride-to-be is a 1995 graduate of Wamego High School. She received degrees in family studies and human services and elementary education from Kansas State University in 2000. She is a teacher at Hilltop Child Development Center.

The future groom is a 1990 graduate of De Soto High School. He received a degree in English in 1996 from Kansas University. He is a real estate agent for Reese & Nichols Acres Realtors in Lawrence. He is a tennis professional at the Indian Creek Racquet Club in Overland Park.

The couple plan an Oct. 2 wedding in Wamego.

Richard and Susan Givens, Lawrence, announce the engagement of their daughter Meg Givens, Lawrence, to Paul Sage, Lawrence, son of Dean and Martha Sage, Perry.

The bride-to-be is a 1997 graduate of Lawrence High School. She also is a graduate of Smith College, Northampton, Mass. She is an intern for the Kaw Valley Heritage Alliance in Lawrence.

The future bride is a 1999 graduate of Baldwin High School. She received a degree in biology in 2003 from Emporia State University. She attends Kansas University School of Nursing in Kansas City, Kan. She works at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Mo.

Doughty-Rea

Gavin and Sharon Doughty, Lindsborg, and Frank and Kelly Rea, McLouth, announce the engagement of their children, Liz Doughty and Thatcher Rea, both of Lawrence.

The bride-to-be graduated from Smoky Valley High School, Lindsborg. She is a 2002 graduate of Kansas University. She is a computer technician and Web designer for the Northeast Kansas Library System.

The future groom attended Glendale High School, Springfield, Mo., and graduated from Weatherford High School, Weatherford, Texas. He is a 1999 graduate of Weatherford College, Weatherford, Texas. He is employed at the Kansas Research and Educational Network facility in Lawrence.

The bride-to-be graduated from Brush High School, Lyndhurst, Ohio. She received a degree in industrial design in 2001 from the Cleveland Institute of Art. She is employed by Chrysler Corp. as a car designer.

Smith-Myers

Verlon and Marilyn Myers, Lawrence, announce the engagement of their son, William Lee Myers, to Sarah Elizabeth Smith, daughter of Vance and Susan Smith, Larned.

The bride-to-be graduated from Larned High School. She is pursuing a degree in sports management at Kansas University. She is an intern in the KU Women’s Rowing Department for the fall semester and plans to graduate in December.

The future groom graduated from Lawrence High School. He received a degree in physics education from Pittsburg State University. After serving two years as a teacher and school administrator with the Peace Corps in Namibia, Africa, he teaches chemistry and physics at Olathe Northwest High School.

The bride-to-be also is the daughter of the late Joseph “Geno” Ramirez.

Katie is a 1999 graduate of Atchison High School. She is pursuing a degree in radiological technology at Washburn University. She is employed by Landplan Engineering in Lawrence.

Simmons-Willliams
