QB Whittemore signs with Nashville Kats

Former Kansas University football quarterback Bill Whittemore once again has landed a professional gig.

Whittemore signed with the expansion Nashville Kats of the Arena Football League last week, just days after the AFL began allowing free-agent signings.

Whittemore, a native of Brentwood, Tenn., had a brief stint with the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons and the Arena2’s Peoria Pirates earlier this year. As a Jayhawk, Whittemore passed for 18 touchdowns and rushed for 10 TDs, leading KU to the Tangerine Bowl last year despite missing three games because of a shoulder injury.

Nashville’s season begins in January.
