Rhudy-Steele
Alexis Christian Rhudy and the Rev. Timothy Charles Steele were married July 17, 2004, at the Chapel of St. Timothy and St. Titus, Concordia Seminary in Clayton, Mo., with the Rev. Gary Byers officiating.
The bride is the daughter of former Lawrence residents Marily Rhudy, Bethesda, Md., and Stephen Rhudy, Walled Lake, Mich. The groom is the son of Sue and Robert Jelinek, Milwaukee, and Charles and Gail Steele, Cedarburg, Wis.
Hayden Rhudy was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Dr. Courtney Rhudy, Mallory Rhudy and Julie Anway. Timothy Schleper was best man. Groomsmen were Steve Deombeleg, Michael Bergt and Christopher Navurskis. Ushers were Tyler Rhudy, Harper Rhudy and Mason Rhudy. Guest book attendant was Tony Hofhine. Flower girl was Phoebe Bergt. Ring bearers were Nicholas Harbin and Renin Seely.
A reception and dinner dance followed the ceremony in Monsanto Hall at the St. Louis Botanical Garden.
The bride is a 1998 graduate of Walled Lake Central High School, Walled Lake, Mich. She graduated in 2002 from Eastern Michigan University, Ypsilanti, Mich., with a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology and earned an American Humanics Certification. Her professional internship was served in Washington, D.C., at the Women’s Research and Education Institute.
The groom is a 1999 graduate of McKendree College, Lebanon, Ill. He received his Master of Divinity degree from Concordia Seminary in May 2004. He served eight years in active duty military service with the Air Force at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois and one year remote tour in the Republic of Korea at the Osan Air Base. His vicarage was served in 2002-2003 at St. Paul Lutheran in Royal Oak, Mich., where the couple first met.
The couple reside in La Plata, Md.
Niwa-Montgomery
David Montgomery and Crystal Niwa were married May 15, 2004, at the Gage Park Rose Garden in Topeka with Judge Nancy Parrish officiating.
The couple’s parents are Steve and Lori Montgomery, Lawrence; Lana Montgomery, Topeka; the late Patty Niwa and the late Wayne Nitch. Grandparents are Margie Hull, Lawrence; Joann Partain, Topeka; and Betty Nelson, Topeka. Great-grandmother is Dorothea Moon, Coffeyville.
Maid of honor was Zonas Niwa. Best man was Brian Rager. Attendants were Jackie Montgomery Schrock and Bo Partain. Flower girls were the couple’s daughters Kaleigh Montgomery and Chansea Montgomery. Ushers were Chad Meyer and Joey Huffman. Guest book attendant was Tigris Singleton.
A reception and dance followed the ceremony. Music was provided by the Shades of Gray Band, featuring the groom’s father and uncle.
The couple both are employed at the Payless Distribution Center in Topeka. They reside in Topeka.
Smith-True
Melanie Smith and Jeffrey True, both of Manhattan, were married July 31, 2004, at Countryside United Methodist Church in Topeka with the Rev. Paul B. Mitchell officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Janice Smith, Eudora. The groom is the son of Tom and Sue True, Keller, Texas.
Maids of honor were Michelle Smith and Shena Niedens. Bridesmaids were Becky Davidson, Brandi Abel and Leslie Suitt. Best men were Brady Myers and Carlos Casas. Groomsmen were Ryan True, Paul Smith and David Vera. Flower girl was Kayce Warren. Ring bearer was Logan Hiskey. Vocalists were Dane and Rebecca Folster. Candle lighters were Stephanie Hiskey and Kate Briggs. Ushers were Josh Briggs, Brandon Lespagnard, David Beach and Clayton Forgey.
A reception was given at the Knights of Columbus in Lawrence.
The bride is a 2001 graduate of Eudora High School. She is pursuing a degree in architectural engineering at Kansas State University. The groom is a 1999 graduate of Washburn Rural High School. He is a senior at Kansas State University where he is majoring in elementary and special education.
The couple reside in Manhattan.
Gibbon-Wilson
Tabitha Gibbon and Isaac Wilson, both of Lawrence, were married July 31, 2004, on Bloomington Beach at Clinton Lake in Lawrence with Mike Birney officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Kenneth and Lucinda Gibbon, Topeka. The groom is the son of Todd and Laurie Wilson, Lawrence.
Maid of honor was Karen Mayse. Best man was Nick Stock.
A reception followed the ceremony at Bloomington Beach.
The bride is a Free State High School graduate. She attended Pittsburg State University and is a student at Washburn University. She is employed by Housekeeping Unlimited.
The groom is a Free State High School graduate. He is a student at Johnson County Community College. He is employed by Fantini Construction.
The couple reside in Lawrence.
