FSHS softball splits twinbill

? Free State High’s softball team split a Sunflower League doubleheader Tuesday, defeating Shawnee Mission North, 5-1, after a 1-0 loss to SM East at Johnson County Complex.

Chloe Hall tripled, and Livi Abney doubled in the victory, while Jamie Stanclift had an RBI.

Ashley Wagner struck out five and pitched a six-hitter in the victory.

“We left a lot on base the first game, but kept plugging away,” FSHS coach Pam Pine said. “We need to string some hits together.”

Free State is 9-7 overall and 5-4 in the league.
