Raiders fall to Highland
Omaha, Neb. ? Illinois Highland took advantage of seven walks — including two in the eighth inning — to claim a 4-2 American Legion baseball victory Sunday over the Lawrence Raiders in the Omaha Round-Robin Tournament.
Highland drew a walk to lead off the extra inning and scored what proved to be the game-winning run on a triple. An intentional walk and a sacrifice fly provided an insurance run.
Highland won despite being outhit 7-3.
Jake Hoover was 3-for-4 with a run, and Taylor Martin was 2-for-4 with a double for the Raiders, who fell to 12-6 and finished 2-2 in the tournament.
Lawrence will travel Tuesday to Topeka Seaman High for a doubleheader with Topeka Post 400.
