Phillips-Frederickson

Dennis and Kathy Frederickson, Lawrence, announce the engagement of their son Patrick Frederickson, Sandy, Utah, to Amy Phillips, Pocatello, Idaho.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of David and Karen Olsen, Blackfoot, Idaho, and the late Dale and Carolyn Phillips. She is a 1998 graduate of Blackfoot High School. She is pursuing a master’s degree in speech pathology at Idaho State University.

The future groom is a 1999 graduate of Free State High School. He is a loan processor for a mortgage company in Sandy, Utah. He is studying radiology at Salt Lake Community College.

The couple plan a Jan. 30 wedding in the Salt Lake City Temple.

Bates-Ward

Marit Bates and Alex Ward, both of Lawrence, announce their engagement.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Edward and Mary Bates, Bloomington, Minn. She is a 1998 graduate of Bloomington Jefferson High School, Bloomington, Minn. She received a Bachelor of Science in journalism in 2002 from Kansas University. She works at the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America in Lawrence. She is coordinator of the Technology Group.

The future groom is the son of Robert Ward and Donna Stucky, both of Lawrence. He is a 1998 graduate of Lawrence High School. He attended Kansas State University for two years and transferred to Kansas University in 2001. He plans to graduate from KU in 2005. He is a junior-level software engineer for Netopia Inc., Lawrence.

The couple plan a Sept. 25 wedding.

Grosdidier-Dodge

Mike and Cheryl Grosdidier, Baldwin, announce the engagement of their daughter Jill M. Grosdidier, Shawnee, to Mark D. Dodge, Gardner, son of Lary and Jeanne Dodge, Topeka.

The bride-to-be is a 1998 graduate of Baldwin High School. She received a Bachelor of Science in education in 2002 from Emporia State University. She teaches fourth grade at Riverview Elementary School in the De Soto school district.

The future groom is a 1996 graduate of Fort Morgan High School in Fort Morgan, Colo. He received a bachelor’s degree in education in 2001 from Washburn University, Topeka. He teaches physical education in the De Soto school district.

The couple plan a June 19 wedding at Annunciation Catholic Church in Baldwin.

Cravens-Basel

Richard and Gloria Cravens, Valley Center, and Wendell and Cyndi Basel, Lawrence, announce the engagement of their children, Keesha Cravens and Ryan Basel, both of Lawrence.

The future bride is a 1996 graduate of Valley Center High School. She is a 2000 graduate of Kansas University. She received a master’s degree in occupational therapy from KU in 2003. She works for the Douglas County Infant-Toddler Coordinating Council and Rehab Care Group.

The future groom is a 1997 graduate of Lawrence High School. He plans to graduate in May with a bachelor’s degree in fine arts from KU and then pursue a career in industrial design.

The couple plan a June 12 wedding at Christ Community Church in Lawrence.

Malcolm-Widener

Thomas and Rhonda Malcolm, Lawrence, and Jimmy and Ronda Widener, Liberal, announce the engagement of their children, Jean Malcolm and Jeff Widener, both of Lawrence.

The future bride is a 1999 graduate of Free State High School. She attended Kansas University and plans to graduate in 2005 from Emporia State University.

The prospective groom is a graduate of Liberal High School and Southwest Kansas Technical School. He is employed by Pepsi Americas.

The couple plan a May 29 wedding at Lawrence Bible Chapel, Lawrence.

Farr-McGuire

Dr. Stan and Donetta Farr, Valley Falls, announce the engagement of their daughter, Joy Donielle Farr, Valley Falls, to Sheldon Ray McGuire, Lawrence. He is the son of Larry and Patty McGuire, Lawrence, and Susan and Charlie Williams, Lawrence.

The bride-to-be is a graduate of Valley Falls High School. She is pursuing a career in cosmetology at the American Academy of Hair Design.

The future groom is a Lawrence High School graduate. He is pursuing a career as an electrician at the school of Independent Electrical Contractors. He is working at Midway Wholesale, Lawrence.

The couple plan a July 31 wedding at the First Christian Church in Valley Falls.

Miller-Tenjack

James Miller and Pamela Hardie, both of Lawrence, announce the engagement of their daughter Leslie Miller to John Tenjack, both of Kansas City, Mo.

The future bride is a 1996 graduate of Lawrence High School. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in graphic design from Indiana University in 2001. She is a graphic designer at Midwest Research Institute in Kansas City, Mo.

The future groom is the son of John and Mary Tenjack, Stacy, Minn. He is a 1997 graduate of Chisago Lakes Baptist School, Chisago Lakes, Minn. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in digital media in 2001 from John Brown University. He is an art director at VML in Kansas City, Mo.

The couple plan a May 29 wedding at Jacob’s Well in Kansas City, Mo.
