After a three-year absence, a major triathlon will be returning to the Lawrence area next summer.

The Lawrence Sports Corp. announced Wednesday the Midwest Mayhem Triathlon would be staged July 24, 2005, at Lone Star Lake.

LSC, a division of the Lawrence Convention and Visitors Bureau, will be the title sponsor.

KLM Marketing Solutions of Kansas City will manage the event.

Mike Vickers, who ran the old Lawrence Memorial Hospital Triathlon for six years, will be executive director of the triathlon.
