Four city football players earned honorable mention on The Kansas City Star’s All-Metro Team during the weekend. Three Lawrence High seniors — defensive back Jeff Colter, linebacker Ian Handshy and lineman Aaron Kie — were honored along with Free State High senior defensive lineman Philip Weinmaster.

Weinmaster earlier was named to the All-Class 6A teams of The Topeka Capital-Journal and The Wichita Eagle, while Colter was named All-Class 6A in the Capital-Journal and was an honorable mention selection in the Eagle.

Kie and Handshy were honorable mention all-class selections in both newspapers as were Free State senior linebacker Danny Pike and Free State junior defensive back Brett Lisher.
