More robbery arrests made

Four now charged in connection with pair of armed holdups

Prosecutors on Wednesday filed robbery, burglary and conspiracy charges against two more suspects in a pair of armed robberies this month, one in the 2400 block of Louisiana Street and one in the 1000 block of Mississippi Street.

Two other men had been charged previously in the case.

The first robbery happened about 10:15 p.m. Dec. 1 in the parking lot of the Malls Olde English Village apartments, 2411 La. A 17-year-old boy told police four male suspects, including two armed with handguns, struck and kicked him before taking his cellular phone.

The second happened about 8:30 p.m. Dec. 7 when a group of men, one of whom was armed with a handgun, barged into an apartment in the 1000 block of Mississippi Street and stole money, a phone, clothing and a PlayStation game from three men inside.

Last week Lawrence Police arrested two suspects, Antonio C. Broom, 18, and Darius P. Trammell, 21, but said more were still at large. On Tuesday night they arrested two more: Gregory A. Nixon Jr., 21, and Terry Moore Jr., 22, Lawrence.

Prosecutors in Dist. Atty. Christine Kenney’s office on Wednesday charged Nixon with two aggravated robberies, plus aggravated battery, aggravated burglary and conspiracy. District Judge Pro Tem Peggy Kittel set his bond at $150,000 based on information that Nixon had fled Lawrence before being arrested.

Prosecutor Brandon Jones said he considered Nixon “extremely dangerous to the community.”

Prosecutors charged Moore with aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary and conspiracy, all stemming from the Dec. 7 robbery. Moore said he’d been living in Lawrence for four months after moving here from Mississippi, and Kittel set his bond at $50,000.

The charges Broom faces are identical to Nixon’s, and the charges Trammell faces are identical to Moore’s.

Also, police have arrested a juvenile female in the case who’s suspected of aiding a felon by helping one of the men, said Sgt. Dan Ward, a Lawrence Police spokesman.
