Larry Dean Peters
Ottawa ? Memorial services for Larry Dean Peters, 61, Ottawa, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Ottawa University Chapel in Ottawa. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at United Methodist Church in Menlo, Iowa, followed by interment in Rose Hill Cemetery in Menlo.
Mr. Peters died Friday, Dec. 3, 2004, at Olathe Medical Center.
He was born Jan. 10, 1943, in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Clarence and Franceil Britt Peters. He grew up in Menlo and graduated in 1961 from Menlo High School. He attended Iowa State University. He became a minister in 1971 and was minister at United Methodist Church in Nemaha, Iowa, for several years.
Mr. Peters received a Bachelor of Liberal Arts in 1975 from Buena Vista College in Storm Lake, Iowa, and a Master of Fine Arts in 1978 from the University of South Dakota, where he was an actor with Black Hills Playhouse. He taught theater from 1978 to 1988 at Butler County Community College. In 1988 he moved to Ottawa and became an associate professor of theater at Ottawa University.
He married Barbara Kelaher on Nov. 8, 1964, in Des Moines. They later divorced.
Survivors include three daughters, Kelly Scholl, Manly, Iowa, Darcey Soto, Lawrence, and Andrea Kopsa, Beaman, Iowa; a son, Britt Peters, Ottawa; his mother, Greenfield, Iowa; a sister, Jo Ann Hall, Greenfield; a brother, Randy, Peoria, Ill.; and 13 grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home in Ottawa.
