Eric and Megan Pannell, Perry, announce the birth of their son, William Maddox Pannell born July 27, 2004, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. He has two sisters, Ardyn, 4, and Elsa, 18 months. Grandparents are Riley and Vicki Pannell, Lawrence, and Kim Stegall, Grantville.

• Parisa Farokhi recently received a juris doctorate from Thomas Jefferson School of Law in San Diego. While attending law school, she made the honor roll and the national dean’s list. She contributed 140 hours to the Women’s Legal Center of San Diego as part of the Pro Bono Honors Program. Farokhi received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Kansas University in 2001. She is the daughter of Saed and Mirima Farohki, Lawrence.
• Joel Beard, Lawrence, was one of 21 student biology researchers this summer at St. Olaf College, Northfield, Minn. Beard, a junior mathematics major, worked with Rob Rutherford, professor of biology, on building a database that will house raw tuberculosis data collected by microarray. Beard’s project has been to develop a computer program that will house the vast amount of information and provide for more efficient analysis methods than have been available.
• Lawrence residents Christy Wheeler and Lauren Wright, both students at William Jewell College in Liberty, Mo., will study in England during the 2004-2005 school year. Wheeler, daughter of Dale and Wendy Wheeler, will study at the University of Oxford. Wright, daughter of Craig and Marilyn Wright, will attend Harlaxton College.
