KU loses aide

DeCosta takes head-coaching job

Kansas University women’s basketball coach Marian Washington is looking for a new assistant coach after Pam DeCosta was named head coach at Lynn University in Boca Raton, Fla.

DeCosta had been a Washington aide for the last five seasons, and for eight seasons overall.

“I’m very excited about the opportunity and challenge of taking over the program at Lynn,” DeCosta said. “I feel we can build a nationally competitive team here and look forward to getting started.”

DeCosta was an assistant coach at Kansas from 1993-96, then left to spend two years as an aide at Oklahoma before returning to Washington’s staff in 1999.

Prior to her first stint at KU, the Denver native was the head coach at Denver East High for the 1992-93 season and led the team to a Class 5A District Championship.

Lynn University is a member of the Sunshine State Conference and competes at the NCAA Division II level.
