Margaret I. Frink
Memorial services for Margaret I. Frink, 86, Lawrence, will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Plymouth Congregational Church.
Mrs. Frink died Thursday, July 17, 2003, at her home. Her remains were donated to Kansas University Medical Center.
She was born Aug. 21, 1916, in Peru, South America, the daughter of Charles and Narka (Kincaid) Stough. She graduated from high school in Parsons, and later received a bachelor’s degree in music education from Kansas University. She lived in Lawrence from 1947 to 1974, when she moved to Cocoa Beach, Fla. She returned to Lawrence in 1998.
Mrs. Frink was a homemaker and an artist. Before her marriage she had been a teacher in Trousdale. She was a member of Plymouth Congregational Church, P.E.O. Sisterhood and Alpha Delta Pi Sorority.
She married John Junior Metz in 1943. He was killed June 7, 1944, in action during World War II. She married Frank Russell Frink on July 26, 1947, in Lawrence. He survives, of the home.
Other survivors include two sons, James Russell Frink, Lawrence, and Paul Daniel Frink, Cocoa Beach, Fla.; a daughter, Mimi Kaplysh, Granby, Colo.; four grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
A brother, Charles Stough Jr., a former state legislator and Lawrence attorney, died earlier.
Poetry by Mrs. Frink will be read during the memorial service, and other works of art by Mrs. Frink will be on display.
“Art has always been a part of my mother’s life,” said daughter Mimi Kaplysh.
The family suggests memorials to Margaret Frink Art Scholarship, a fund for students wishing to pursue a career in an artistic field. Contributions may be sent in care of Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home.
