Man charged with drunken driving after son dies in accident
An Easton man has been arrested on drunken driving charges in connection with a fatality accident that killed his son early Saturday morning in Leavenworth County, the Leavenworth County sheriff’s department announced Monday.
The son, Christopher L. Blevins, 21, Easton, was transported to Cushing Hospital and later transferred to KU Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan., where he died as a result of his injuries, the sheriff’s department reported.
The father, Michael J. Blevins, 42, was arrested for driving under the influence and was transported to the Leavenworth County jail.
The accident took place about 2:54 a.m. Saturday on Seven Sisters Road in northwest Leavenworth County, the sheriff’s department reported.
Blevins’ vehicle left the road, went through a barb wire fence and into a field and began rolling, throwing the passenger from the vehicle, the sheriff’s office said.
