Richard J. Rome

? Services for Richard J. Rome, 92, Victoria, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Fidelis Church, Victoria. Burial will be in St. Fidelis Cemetery.

Mr. Rome died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2003, at Ellis Good Samaritan Center, Victoria.

He was born Oct. 25, 1911, in rural Victoria, the son of John M. and Catherine (Sander) Rome.

Mr. Rome was a farmer. He also was the former owner of Rich Rome Garage, Victoria. He was a member of St. Fidelis Church.

He married Laurinda Staab on Nov. 7, 1939, in Victoria. She died January 11, 2000.

A son, Kenneth Joseph, and a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Rome, also died earlier.

Survivors include two sons, James, Hutchinson, and William, McPherson; two daughters, Verma Sommer, Lawrence, and Rose Ann Pfannenstiel, Hays; two sisters, Flo Schmidt, Plainville, and Betty Leikam, Hays; twelve grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and five stepgreat-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Brock’s North Hill Chapel, Hays. There will be a parish vigil service at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
