A quartet of light offerings open at Lawrence theatres this weekend.
The first is the wispy cross-cultural sports flick “Bend It Like Beckham,” an international hit about an Indian soccer hobbyist who ruffles her traditionally minded family when she joins a semi-pro team.
For those wanting light action, there’s “Bulletproof Monk,” a martial arts hodgepodge involving a pickpocket who is chosen by a wandering Tibetan monk as protector of a powerful ancient scroll.
In the kiddie department, there’s “Holes,” a lively adaptation of the popular Louis Sacker novel about a teen sentenced to hard labor at a juvenile facility where mysteries abound.
And in the light comedy arena comes “Malibu’s Most Wanted,” which stars Jamie Kennedy as a rich white kid named Brad — or B-Rad — who dreams of becoming the world’s greatest rapper.
