Student loses tip of finger in West Junior High School accident

An eighth-grader at West Junior High School lost the tip of a finger during an accident Friday afternoon at the school.

“The student was running in the hall, dragging his hand along the lockers when the tip of one of his fingers got caught on a locker vent and was detached,” said Julie Boyle, director of communications for Lawrence public schools.

Boyle said an ambulance was called to the school to tranport the boy to Lawrence Memorial hospital.

No other information was available about the accident.
