Ad Astra statue, goes up — then down
Topeka ? Ad Astra, the statue that took 14 years to make its way to the top of the Kansas Statehouse dome, didn’t stay there long.
After being hoisted by a crane atop the Capitol early Monday afternoon, the 22-foot-tall, 4,420-pound statue was taken down later in the afternoon by construction workers. Reporters were told there was a problem with the bolts.
