He was born Aug. 31, 1938, in Lawrence, the son of Otto Martin and Catherine Marie (Barrnett) Plank. He graduated from McLouth High School in 1955.

Mr. Plank was a dietitian worker at Presbyterian Manor, Topeka. He also had worked at the American Legion Bicentennial Post 225, Ozawkie, and the American Legion Post 142, Perry.

He married Betty Lee Biggers in 1956. She died April 6, 1984.

Survivors include a son, William Dean, Ottawa; a daughter, Vicky Russell, Valley Falls; two sisters, Joann Melvin, Queen Creek, Ariz., and Carol Richardson, Lawrence; a companion, Jan Christianson, Lawrence; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
