KU softball splits with UMKC
INDEPENDENCE, MO. ? Kansas salvaged a split in softball with UMKC on Wednesday at Adair Park.
UMKC won the first game, 2-1, before the Jayhawks rebounded with a 6-0 decision in the nightcap.
In the first game, the Kangaroos (24-22) rallied with a run in the bottom of the sixth to tie and added an unearned run in the bottom of the seventh for the victory. Katie Wiberg’s single scored pinch-runner Jill Dolan with one out for the game-winner.
KU’s lone run came in the first inning when Shelly Musser led off with a homer. KU (29-18) managed just two hits in the first game. Serena Settlemier was the losing pitcher, falling to 9-7.
In the second game, KU center fielder Christi Musser went 2-for-3 with a double, home run, three runs and two RBIs. Leah Tabb also homered for KU.
Kirsten Milhoan (6-3) was the winning pitcher.
