Memorial Mass for Audrey Ann Wichman Luckeroth, 88, Lawrence, will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, July 31, 2021 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Lawrence. Burial for Audrey and the late Dr. Norman A. Luckeroth will follow at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 2, 2021 at Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery in Seneca, Kansas. Audrey passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her children on Friday, May 21, 2021.

Audrey was born to Louis Herman and Mary (Carlin) Wichman on December 9, 1932 in Seneca. She attended Saints Peter and Paul Catholic School for both grade and high school. She graduated from Saint Mary's School of Nursing and worked as a registered nurse prior to becoming a wife and mother.

Audrey married Dr. Norman Luckeroth on July 13, 1955 in Nagoya, Japan while Norman was serving in the United States Air Force. Following Norman's retirement from the Luckeroth Veterinary Clinic in 1995, they moved to Lawrence. The couple gifted the veterinary practice to the Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine to establish the Norman and Audrey Luckeroth Endowed Scholarship. They were able to celebrate 59 years of marriage prior to Norman's death in 2015.

Audrey enjoyed getting together to play bridge with her many wonderful friends, watching western movies, gardening, and spending time with family. She loved following her grandchildren's school activities and was especially happy that seven of her grandchildren graduated from college. Her last wish came true when her youngest grandchild became valedictorian of her high school class and will start college in the Fall of 2021. She loved watching the birds, especially the cardinals, from her deck on the golf course, car rides to Clinton Lake, and petting her beloved dog, Cody.

Survivors include her three daughters, Michele Walker of Lawrence, Leah Luckeroth MD of Overland Park, Louise ‘Lou’ Luckeroth of Topeka; one son, Jay C. (Barb) Luckeroth of Topeka; eight grandchildren, Coleman (Meredith) Walker, Audra (Cris) Ratliff, Sabrina Weng PT, Tina Weng, Kristina (Colton) Buckhalter, Kayla (Zach) Luckeroth McLinn PharmD, Chloe Luckeroth and Chelee Luckeroth Blancas; one great-grandson, Beckett Walker; brother, Harold (Rita) Wichman of Litchfield Park, AZ; and one sister-in-law, Pat Luckeroth of Seneca. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Norman and her daughter, Tina as well as six brothers; Thomas Wichman, Walter Wichman, Raymond Wichman, Glen Wichman, Louis Wichman Jr, and Edwin Wichman, and two sisters; Lucille Lierz and Ellen Ramsby.

The family appreciated the compassion and kindness of Audrey's caregivers and friends who loved her dearly, making her village complete. Audrey had a special relationship with Maryam Visram who also cared for Norman.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests Memorial contributions may be made in Audrey's name to the Kansas State University Foundation. This will fund the Wempe-Luckeroth Family Scholarship or the Dr. Norman A. and Audrey A. Luckeroth Endowed Scholarship in the College of Veterinary Medicine. Contributions may also be made to Midland Hospice in Topeka or to a charity of your choice. Please send contributions in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13th Street, Lawrence, KS 66044.
