Dale Eugene Nevius

Dale Eugene Nevius, 91, left this life on September 8, 2017 following a brief illness.
Born to Walter and Nelda Knop Nevius in rural Miami County, Kansas on September 5, 1926, Dale attended grade school near Chiles and high school in Paola.
He served his country in the Army Air Corp during WW II and following his service attended the University of Kansas, graduating with an electrical engineering degree in 1950.
He married Margery Ivy in 1948 and for the next 64 years, they shared the strongest of unions, living in a number of states early in their marriage before establishing their home back in Paola. Later they lived in Tulsa, OK; Richmond, TX; and Overland Park before retiring to Lawrence. Dale had many close friends in the Paola and Lawrence communities. He was eager to help others and always willing to lend a hand. Dale was a member of the Paola City Council, Paola School Board, and was an Elder in the First Presbyterian Church. He loved to travel, play bridge with friends and above all spend time with family. Preceding him in passing were his parents, his wife, Margery, and a sister, Evelyn Rigney. Surviving are his daughter, Karen Van Blaricum (Galen), of Lenexa, a son, Gary, of Prairie Village, three grandsons, Craig Van Blaricum (Marie), Grant Van Blaricum (Cydney) and Brett Van Blaricum, and one great grandson,
Landon.

Visitation will be 10:30 – 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Dengel & Son Mortuary, 305 N. Pearl St., Paola, KS. Memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m.
