Barb & Dave Downing

All because two people feel in love, Dave and Barb Downing were married on August 29, 1959 at the United Presbyterian Church in Allen Park, Michigan. They were high school sweethearts at Lincoln Park High. Dave, Barb and their two daughters moved to Lawrence, Kansas in 1981 where Dave joined the KU Aerospace Engineering Department. Dave was the Department Chair from 1988 to 1999. He retired in 2009 as a Professor Emeritus. Barb is a member of the University Women’s Club, The Red Hat Society and the ELLe’s Club. She was the Prop Master and member of the Vintage Player troupe of the Lawrence Community Theater. She was also the Prop Master for the English Alternative Theater, bookpricer for the Lawrence Library Sale and a Meals on Wheels driver. The couple has two Daughters: Kelly (Lawrence) and Jennifer (Salina) and 6 grandchildren.
