Dr. Bruce and Christine Melin, of Garden City, Kansas announce the marriage of their son, Alexander Conrad Melin, of Lawrence, Kansas to Svetlana Akhtyamovna Akhmerova. of Ufa, Russia.
She is the daughter of Akhtyam Khasanovich Akhermov and Venera Minetdinovna Akhmerova of Kirgiz-Miyaki, Bashkortostan, Russia.
The 12:30 p.m. double-ring ceremony took place on August 24, 2013 at the Russian Drama Theater in Ufa, Russia. A reception and dance were held after the ceremony, hosted by the bride’s parents, at the AMAKS hotel in Ufa. The groom’s parents and sister and brother-in-law attended the ceremony in Russia.
The bride is a graduate of the mathematics faculty of Bashkortostan State University in Ufa, Russia with a degree in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science. She is employed as an engineer-programmer at Iska-Pro in Ufa, Russia.
The groom is a graduate of the University of Kansas, with a bachelor’s degree in Slavic Languages and Literatures, and a master’s degree in Russian, Eastern European, and Eurasian Studies. He is currently in his final year of study at the University of Kansas School of Law.
