Les and Jean Beguelin, Topeka, formerly of Lawrence, will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with friends and family on June 26.
Leslie Beguelin and Alice Jean Degner were married on June 26, 1949, at Danforth Chapel at Kansas University.
The couple met while attending KU. Les graduated from KU’s School of Liberal Arts and Sciences with a major in history. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and retired from the federal service (Navy, Air Force, Army, Post Office and the U.S. Department of Agriculture) in 1982. Jean attended KU’s School of Fine Arts. The couple lived in Lawrence until 2005 when they moved to Topeka.
They have two daughters, Kathryn Blosser, Topeka, and the late Russell Blosser; and Deborah Erhart and husband Jon, Dodge City; a son, Scott and wife Renee, Uvalde, Texas; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
